In MMI’s recent survey about kids and money, we asked parents which fictional character they thought would be a good financial role model for children.  Votes were equally split (29% each) among Willy Wonka (money is a tool for doing what you love), Richie Rich (it’s good to share with those less fortunate), and Winnie the Pooh (you don’t need much to be happy). Scrooge McDuck (it’s smart to keep a tight grip on your money) was selected by the fewest number of parents as a good financial role model for kids.

We also put the question out to MMI employees.  Willy Wonka (my personal choice), was the big winner with 38% of the votes.  Scrooge McDuck was once again the least favorite, getting only 8% of the votes.  The rest were split evenly between Winnie the Pooh and Richie Rich.

Now, I’d love to know what you think.
