Andrew Ng, chief scientist of Baidu Research, sees artificial intelligence as part of a larger socially valuable endeavor. Ng says that policymakers, technology companies, and government agencies should collaborate to promote autonomous vehicles and other devices that improve their own algorithms with use, because of the positive ways they will affect society.
