Yesterday, I dusted off my psychology degree and started my attempt to identify financial styles that can keep people from achieving their goals. The approach du jour is what I am calling ‘underpowered.’
You might be underpowered if:
- You feel that no matter what you do, you can’t get ahead.
- You are always waiting for something to happen (raise, inheritance, lottery).
- You blame others (spouse, boss, children) for your financial setbacks.
If you answered “yes” to the above questions, ask yourself why. If a lack of knowledge is holding you back, the Internet is a great resource for you. To make progress today, set at least one attainable short-term financial goal and visit FTC.gov for a lot of good, easy-to-read information.
If you have tips to help someone let go of past mistakes and set goals for the future, please share them though the comments section.
