Avoiding credit card debt can be good for your financial health.  In addition to saving money on interest charges and fees, studies show that people tend to spend less when paying with cash versus credit.  But did you know that paying with cash can make you physically healthier too?

According to September’s issue of Self Magazine, researchers from Cornell University found that people who pay for their food with cash make healthier purchases than people who pay with a debit or credit card.  Perhaps having a limited amount to spend makes people think more about what they are getting for their money.  Regardless of the reason, I think it’s worth a try!  Next time you head out to lunch or dinner, try paying with cash– it could make both you and your wallet a little bit healthier.
